Senior-only delivery.
No junior staffing on architecture, integration design, or client conversation. The same senior who pitched the work is the one writing the AL code and joining the calls. Continuity compounds.
About
25 years building ERP for the quiet majority.
Darbtek is Ray Chang. One senior practitioner. 25 years across FoxPro, Dynamics NAV, and Business Central — all of it spent on SMB distributors, not enterprise. AI didn't replace what we do here. It made one senior do what used to require four.
Background
From FoxPro to Claude, one consistent throughline.
I built my first complete ERP system in FoxPro in the early 2000s — back when a one-person shop could ship a working production system from scratch in months. That muscle never went away, even as the tools got bigger.
Over 25 years I've delivered Dynamics NAV upgrades, Business Central implementations, Shopify B2B integrations, custom Android WMS, Power Platform automations, and Google Ads operations for SMB distributors across packaging, electronics, textiles, gaming hardware, and wire manufacturing. Same client size every time: 10–30 user license, $5M–$160M revenue, multi-channel ecommerce.
The throughline isn't a particular technology. It's delivering working production software end-to-end as a senior practitioner — not directing juniors, not writing requirements docs that someone else codes from, not handing off to a project manager. Hands on the AL code. Hands on the Power Automate flow. Hands on the client call.
AI didn't replace what we do here. It made one senior do what used to require four.
The traditional consulting model for Business Central is a 4–6 person team running a 4–6 month project at a six-figure budget. That model works for enterprise. For SMB distributors, it produces three problems: handoff drag between juniors and seniors, junior staffing on the calls that actually decide architecture, and project timelines that outlast the buyer's patience.
The AI-amplified senior model produces something different. Code stubs and integration mappings generated in minutes instead of days. Documentation written alongside every commit. Inventory analytics that classify a full SKU catalog in one afternoon. The senior stays on architecture, judgment calls, and the client conversation — where seniority compounds most. AI handles the velocity multipliers.
Same delivery output as a 4-person team. Cost of one senior. Documentation in your tenant from day one so there's no key-man risk to absorb later. That's the working model. Two years in and it scales further than I expected.
How we work
Four principles, non-negotiable.
Senior-only delivery.
No junior staffing on architecture, integration design, or client conversation. The same senior who pitched the work is the one writing the AL code and joining the calls. Continuity compounds.
Fixed fee, scoped before signing.
You see the proposal with timeline, deliverables, and price before we start. No T&M creep, no scope-expansion surprises mid-project. If the scope changes, we agree to a new scope first.
Code lives in your tenant.
BC environment, AL extensions, Power Automate flows, Power BI reports — all in your Microsoft tenant from day one. Source code in your GitHub. Documentation in markdown. Switch partners anytime — nothing leaves with us.
AI is a multiplier, not a replacement.
AI handles velocity-multipliers: code stubs, integration mappings, inventory analytics, documentation drafts. Senior handles judgment-multipliers: architecture, edge cases, client conversation. The line stays exactly where it should.
